About Don, Executive Director of Freedom Challenge Rev. Donald W. Starnes, a nationally appointed U.S. Missionary with the Assemblies of God since 2002, serves as President of Freedom Challenge, Inc a new affiliated ministry of Teen Challenge International started in March 2005. Freedom Challenge's purpose is to teach "life skills from a biblical perspective to inmates" in the Med/Max Kansas Department of Corrections facility at Hutchinson, Kansas. Rev. Starnes served on the Boards of Teen Challenge of the Midwest, 1991-2005 and Freedom Ministries, Inc, 1998-2006. He served as Executive Director of Teen Challenge of the Midwest from 2003 to 2005. He previously served as the administrative assistant for two Kansas District of the Assemblies of God superintendents from 1994 - 2002. While in that capacity he served as Office Manager, Camp Facilities Administrator (Wheat State & Woodston Camps), Budget Committee Chairman, District Events Coordinator, Home Missions' M.A.P.S. Coordinator and Stewardship Director. Before going to the district office, he served as senior pastor in Scott City and as an associate pastor at Wichita - Bethel Life Center (Youth, Christian Education and maintenance) and at First Assembly of God, Grand Prairie, Texas. He is a graduate of Southwestern Assemblies of God University (B.S. in Christian Ministry, A.A. in Psychology and a degree in Bible). Don has served on SAGU's Alumni Executive Council since 1995. Don has been married to his wife, Gail, since 1981. The couple has two children, Joshua and Annie.
